Codename Wolfe-Book 1-The Omega Security Series By J.R. Tootill

Author Interview: JR Tootill on Codename Wolfe (Book 1 of The Omega Security Series)

About the Book

Q: Congratulations on the release of Codename Wolfe! Can you tell us a little about what inspired this story?

I wrote a short story for a fiction class and Leda’s Origin story was born!

Q: Bradly "Wolfe" Tucker is such an intriguing lead. What can readers expect from him in this book?

Tuc goes through so much in the book! We know Leda has trust issues but Tuc’s come to the surface pretty quickly and they are fired by his need to keep Leda safe.

He falls so hard so fast!

Q: This is book one in The Omega Security Series. What can readers expect from the series as a whole?
The series has five standalones and each book focuses on one couple with the Omega Security in the background. I would suggest people check the trigger warnings for the series on my website jrtootill.com. The books focus on trauma and DV. I’ve tried to do it respectfully but these characters go through it!

Q: How would you describe the balance between the romance and the suspense in Codename Wolfe?

I’d say it’s about even. The suspense pushes the romance in many ways that wouldn’t be as interesting if it was just about the romance.

Q: Since August marks the “Book Birthday” for Codename Wolfe, do you have any special message for your readers?

Codename Wolfe starts the entire world. So lots of world building. It also introduces the ensemble cast, who are in all the books in one capacity or another. I would suggest you start with Codename Wolfe so that you get to meet how all the characters meet and fir together.

If you are an audiobook fan, the entire series is now available in audio with Maxine Miitchell and Sebastian York voicing Tuc and Leda for COdename Wolfe.

If you like CriminalMinds/CSI with a little bit of spice, It’s a great ride!

Q: Last question about the series—can you give us a tiny hint about what’s next in the Omega Security Series?

I am branching off from Codename but want to stay in the Omega world, so I’m working on a series of standalones set in the Omega world. I am also working on a spin-off of characters introduced in Codename Blade (book 3 in the series.

About the Author

Q: What first sparked your love of writing?

When I was about 7 or 8, I hated instrumental songs on the radio because I always felt like something was missing, so I wrote lyrics to them.

Q: Which authors or books have influenced your writing the most?

So many. But I guess I was influenced by Sci-fi authors like Philip K. Dick, Robert Heinlan and Ben Bova, but also by authors like Joan Didion and Virginia Woolf.

Q: What do you enjoy most about writing romantic suspense?

It’s such a fun genre that allows me to explore topics that wouldn’t be as accessible in other genres.

Q: When you’re not writing, what might we find you doing?

I read a lot. I also binge-watch TV and movies.

Q: If you could give one piece of advice to aspiring authors, what would it be?

Read. Read. Read. Read everything you can: stories, essays, fiction, nonfiction, poetry, how-to books, psychology books. Read books by other writers about how they built their craft and acquire, as Stephen King says in his book On Writing, as big a toolbox as you can.
