Widows Walk-Stasia Mars

Weekly MAsh written interview with Stasia Mars, author of Widow’s Walk:

💀 Mafia, Marriage & Mayhem

  1. Widow’s Walk throws us into an arranged marriage gone very wrong (or maybe very right?). If Sinclair had access to a dating app instead of mob negotiations, what would her profile bio say?

Sinclair doesn’t swipe. She hunts. She prefers to lure men in the old fashioned way. Showing up at a club, reeling them in with her dangerous beauty, watching them fall into her orbit, dragging one–sometimes two–back to her layer, then discarding them by sunrise.

  1. Blackwell is the kind of hero who could scare you and protect you at the same time. If he had to pick a theme song when walking into a room, what would it be?

Well, I know Sinclair’s theme song right away. Metallica’s Enter Sandman. Hands down. But for Blackwell, I can see him casually entering a room with Red Right Hand (Peaky Blinders theme song) playing.

🎭 Character Shenanigans

  1. Sinclair steps into her sister’s place—talk about pressure! If she had a secret “survival kit” to handle mafia wife life, what three things would be inside?

A nail filer with a very pointy tip, a vile of cyanide disguised as perfume, and black eyeliner.

  1. If Blackwell and Sinclair were forced to do something completely normal—like a PTA bake sale or IKEA furniture assembly—who would lose their patience first?

Sinclair could never be trusted with a bake sale, let’s be real. Too much work for Blackwell to “clean up”. And we’re not talking about the kitchen.
So, let’s go with something like an IKEA furniture assembly. For sure, Blackwell would be the first to unravel. Sinclair has spent her entire life perfecting the art of composure. Always remaining detached on the outside, while her blood boils like liquid rock on the inside. She’d gladly sit back, cool and collected (knowing she hid a few pieces), just to watch Blackwell lose his mind. All for her entertainment.

🕵️♀️ The Author Behind the Chaos

  1. Writing mafia romance means balancing danger with swoon. What’s the quirkiest or strangest place you’ve ever gotten inspiration for a scene?

I honestly get inspiration from my dreams. I have very vivid dreams. I’ll wake up and open up my notes app on my phone and start typing away. Either adding to stories already in the works, or brand new ones.

  1. If you could step into your own story for a day, would you want to be a mob boss, a mafia wife, or the undercover spy nobody suspects?

Easy. A spy. Being a mob boss is too much responsibility. A wife? Too many expectations. I’d love to be an unsuspecting female who could take out a small army of armed men, complete my mission, then walk away whistling and swaying my hips as if I’m untouchable.

🍷 Quickfire Mafia Madness

  1. Favorite mafia movie or TV show that always gets you in the mood to write?

Absolutely love all the John Wick movies. I know there’s not a lot of romance in it, but I loooooove action movies. That’s why I love writing mafia. You can do action scenes and it isn’t out of place. And the characters are of money and power. No rules, and the law can’t touch them. They can literally do whatever the fuck they want with little to no consequences.

  1. Coffee order while plotting dark, twisty romances?

Caramel Macchiato with an extra shot of espresso. And the weather doesn’t determine whether I get it hot or cold. Like my writing, it depends on my mood.

  1. If you had to hide one incriminating secret about yourself, what’s your go-to cover story?

It was just research for my next book :)
